Conestoga College Partnership

NOTE: All ‘Recognition of Learning’ courses are offered online.

UFCW Canada is proud to announce a partnership between Conestoga College and webCampus, UFCW Canada’s online education and training program. Going forward, UFCW Canada members and their families who successfully complete approved webCampus courses may have them recognized as a tuition-free contribution to a Recognition Of Learning through Conestoga College for the following programs (click on each program for more information):

Adult Education Specialist

Communications Specialist

Human Resource Specialist

Leadership Specialist

Health & Safety Committee Specialist

Retail and Food Specialist

Retail Pharmacy Skills

Social Justice Advocate

webCampus participants must e-mail webCampus ([email protected]) their intent to participate in this program to receive full program details (i.e. time limits, costs, registration process, transfer credit equivalencies, etc.). All webCampus courses are free to UFCW members and their families. Participating in this program provides significant cost savings for those interested in pursuing a 'Recognition of Learning.'

Adult Education Specialist

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Adult Education Specialist Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Adult Education Specialist that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning trains students in skills that provide an excellent foundation of knowledge to pursue opportunities within an education and training framework. With these skills, participants can both practice and promote adult learning principle during both volunteer and paid positions where excellence in education is needed.

Communications Specialist

Program Design

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Communication Specialist Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Communications Specialist ROL that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning trains students in multimedia, web design, and communication skills. With these skills, participants can open doors to various roles in marketing and communication within the union, business, and non-profit sectors. Participants may also use these courses as a springboard to further education in freelance communication.

Human Resource Specialist

By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Human Resource Specialist that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning trains students in skills that allow them a fuller exploration of an ever-widening field of professional human resources. With these skills, participants can better base their attention into this complex and dynamic field with both knowledge and understanding from a worker friendly perspective.

Program Design

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Health & Safety Committee Specialist Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus courses (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Health & Safety Committee Specialist ROL that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning supports members who serve on Workplace Health and Safety Committees. These courses focus on understanding legal obligations to keep all workers safe and the systems that support decisions to maintain and develop safer workplaces.

By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Leadership Specialist that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning educates students in skills that continue to expand and explore the dynamics of leadership. Graduates of this ROL bring an expanded range of knowledge and perspective to leadership roles found in a wide range of work environments.

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Retail and Food Specialist Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Retail and Food Specialist that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning trains students in skills that excels their knowledge of a $80+ billion a year industry. With these skills, participants better position themselves to pursue advancement within the industry as well as explore a wider range of opportunities in a growing sector.

Retail Pharmacy Skills

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Retail Pharmacy Skills Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Retail Pharmacy Skills that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning trains students in skills that are common to most retail pharmacy outlets. With these skills, participants may pursue entry level opportunities at retail Pharmacies or simply better understand our health care system from a unique perspective.

Social Justice Advocate

Program Design

UFCW Canada and Conestoga College have partnered to offer members and their families an opportunity to earn a Social Justice Advocate Recognition of Learning (ROL) Credential. By successfully completing the requisite webCampus course (tuition-free) and the Conestoga College courses (tuition applies), participants can earn a Social Justice Advocate ROL that is recognized by both organizations. All Conestoga College courses are credit courses and could be applied toward other approved certificates or diplomas and are eligible as a tax deduction.

This recognition of learning prepares students to better understand human rights laws as they relate to minority and equity-seeking groups. Participants will be introduced to the challenges facing diverse communities such as the LGBTQ community and migrant workers in Canada. They will also learn ways to advocate within government and society for disadvantaged or discriminated peoples.
